Odyssey teams tackle problem-solving
A spontaneous problem-solving workshop was held Feb. 8 at Hudson Middle School for all Odyssey of the Mind team members. The workshop was videotaped for Channel 10 and will be aired at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 5 and 6.



Lecture on birds set March 12
Dr. Charles Kemper will present a lecture March 12 at YMCA Camp St. Croix entitled Birds of the Prairie. Kemper will tell stories of bird behavior and how birds have adapted to grassland environments.

April 20-May 29; registration is required before April 15. Cost is $3; rosters may be picked up at the Y reception desk April 17.



Cooper to deliver second series on parenting
Hudson's Community Action and the Hudson School District are cosponsoring a three-part series featuring nationally known speaker Dr. Judy Cooper. The second of these sessions, "How to Raise Your Child's Self Esteem," is scheduled for Monday, March 9, 6:30-8 p.m. in the Hudson High School cafeteria.



Senior day planned at Y
The St. Croix Valley YMCA will hold its first Seniors Out Day Saturday, March 7, 2-7 p.m., at the Y. A variety of activities are planned. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, a light supper of chili and crackers and birthday cake in honor of seniors with March birthdays. There will be gifts for the birthday people as well, door prizes, tours of the YMCA, swimming opportunities and more.



WITC
For absolute beginners to learn about the Internet, how to get connected, resources available, finding and accessing information. The course is available Saturday, March 14, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and also as a two session course Tuesday and Thursday, April 14 and 16, 6-9 p.m. Fee: $13.65.



Y offers adult self-defense
The St. Croix Valley YMCA is offering an adult coeducational self-defense course Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22. The first two-hour session focuses on the prevention of rape and assault. The second session involves actual physical techniques used to avoid or alleviate confrontations. Instructor is Scott Lucas, a karate instructor at the Y who has 18 years of experience in martial arts instruction.
