Hudson's Spring Showcase to be held next weekend "Discover the Best of the Hudson Area" during the Spring Showcase at the Hudson Sports & Civic Center, 1820 Hanley Road, on Sunday, March 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The annual event is free and open to the public and will feature children's activities, family entertainment and over 80 booths geared to showcase products and services available in the area. On the entertainment stage will be gardening tips, faux painting, a children's self-defense class and performances by the Helmer Dance Studio, the Hudson High School Swing Choir and the Minnesota Raptor Center. The children's activity stations will have face painting, a coloring contest, "Paint a Flower Pot" and Puppet Friends. In addition to business booths, food vendors will offer samples and sell lunch and beverage items. The Hudson Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau will sponsor a raffle with prizes awarded at the end of the day. First prize is a 32" Sony flat-screen TV, second prize is a Nintendo Wii System and third prize is an Apple iPod Nano. Tickets are available at the Chamber office now and at the Spring Showcase. Participants need not be present to win. Many businesses booths will be drawing for door prizes throughout the day. Hudson -- Judge threatened A Boyceville man has been charged with a felony for making telephone threats toward a St. Croix County judge. Jeffrey E. Flettre, 40, made an initial appearance last Thursday and was ordered to post $5,000 cash bail on one count of battery or threat to a judge. The criminal complaint alleged that during a telephone conversation with a deputy clerk of court concerning paying fines for speeding tickets Flettre threatened to "strangle" Judge Eric J.
