• Correction: council president story

The awkward pause reported in a story on the election of Randy Morrissette II as Hudson City Council president took place after Mayor Dean Knudson asked three times for nominations, and there were none. That's when the mayor said, "I find this an interesting circumstance." Following the comment, Alderman Alan Burchill nominated Morrissette for the position.

An earlier online story said Knudson's comment followed Burchill's nomination of Morrissette, and an invitation for additional nominations.

"This is a small but important point since your online story could leave the erroneous impression that I wanted or expected more nominations," Knudson said in a request to have the story corrected. "I tried to maintain a position of strict neutrality in the whole process. I told the council that I would try to be an impartial referee. I fear that a reader could infer that I wanted or was encouraging more nominations." We apologize for the error.
