Downed tree caused Saturday's power outage in Hudson

The wind blew a tree onto a power line shortly after noon on Saturday, knocking out electrical service to 3,419 customers in the city of Hudson.

Liz Wolfgreen, a spokeswoman for Xcel Energy, said customers in the area of Coulee Road, Hazel Court and River Ridge Road were affected.

It took a work crew 58 minutes to restore power to the affected homes and businesses.

The tree fell on Xcel's "Willow River 92 feeder" line at 12:19 p.m., according to Wolfgreen.

She said Saturday's strong winds also blew a tree over onto a power line in the Baldwin/Hammond area, interrupting service to 2,539 customers in those communities.
