St. Croix Economic Development Corp. elects new officers At its annual meeting May 13, the St. Croix Economic Development Corp. elected its new officers and directors. Jeremy Price, North Hudson, was elected to a one-year term as president. He is a vice president and loan officer with Wisconsin Business Development Finance Corp., a certified development company that works with banks and small businesses with long-term financing for expansions. Patti Robertson, Roberts, was elected first vice president. She is a commercial lender with WESTconsin Credit Union's Hudson office. Tom Schumacher was elected second vice president. He is a business attorney with Bakke Norman S.C. and resides in Baldwin. Dale Jorgenson, who owns Riverland Laser, was re-elected corporate secretary-treasurer. He resides in River Falls. Town of Warren resident Trudy Popenhagen completed her term as president as well as her final term on the board of directors. She is a community services manager for Xcel Energy's Hudson Office and will continue to serve on the EDC's executive committee as a nonvoting member. The following people were elected to the EDC board: Mark Casey, Marian Furlong, Roger Humphrey, Noel Eggebraaten, Gregg Knapp, CPA, and George Hauser. Casey is a vice president in the commercial lending department at First National Community Bank. Furlong is the president and chief executive officer of Hudson Hospital. Humphrey is the president and founder of Humphrey Engineering. Eggebraaten operates Eggebraaten & Associates, a business consulting firm. Knapp is a partner at Wipfli in Hudson. Hauser is an executive vice president at Citizens State Bank (Hudson). Also joining the board through appointments from Roger Rebholz, St. Croix County Board Chair, are County Supervisors Frederick Horne, Ken Kolbe and Steve Hermsen. EDC bylaws require board representation by three county supervisors. In addition to Popenhagen, the terms of Pam Brion, CPA, and Greg Ewig expired at the annual meeting. Two bikers injured in weekend accident near Hudson A pair of Minnesota motorcyclists was seriously injured following a crash on County Road. A northeast of Hudson at around 7:15 p.m. Saturday. The St. Croix County Sheriff's Department said Janet Dordal, 49, St. Paul, and John Hiber, 42, Cottage Grove, Minn., were heading north on County Road A riding side-by-side when the accident happened. The accident report said Dordal and Hiber failed to negotiate a curve near County Road U, collided with each other and then were thrown into a ditch. Emergency responders found the pair unconscious at the scene, according to officials. They were both taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul where early Monday afternoon a hospital spokesman reported that Dordal was in serious condition and that Hiber's condition was undetermined.
