North Hudson -- Sleepy driver takes out utility pole The driver of a pick up truck apparently fell asleep and ran into a utility pole in North Hudson, knocking it down, at about 6 a.m. Thursday. The accident happened on Hwy. 35/Sixth Street N. in front of the Line X truck accessories business (in the former T & T Collision Center building). Mark Ekblad, supervisor of the North Hudson Public Works Department, said the truck also took out a telephone pedestal next to the utility pole. The pole held a cable TV line in addition to the power line. Ekblad said that as of 9:30 a.m. Thursday, crews from Xcel Energy and AT&T were on the scene repairing the damage. The St. Croix County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident because North Hudson didn't have a police officer on duty at the time. The Star-Observer is awaiting a report on the accident, including the name of the driver, from the sheriff's department. Published 11:48 Jul-17-08 | TOP |
