Police looking for Hudson detective's stolen gun, badges Local peace officers are on the lookout for stolen investigator badges, a Hudson Police ID and a pistol taken from an unmarked squad car. A Hudson Police Department theft complaint filed with the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department last Thursday said that sometime between Aug. 14 and 20 a Glock 23C, 40-caliber semi-automatic pistol, holster, two HPD badges, one police ID badge and a left-hand glove were taken from the squad car checked out to Dectective Shawn Pettee and parked in front of his North Hudson home. The report said the gun was taken from a black duffel bag on the back seat and the IDs were in the center counsel. The duffel bag was left behind. Pettee reported he worked a 14-hour shift for HPD on Aug. 14 and got home about 11 p.m. He started a vacation the next day, according to the North Hudson Police Department. The detective said he usually puts the gun in a safe in his house. When he was unable to locate the gun in the safe and the car, he checked at the police department and after a thorough search of the vehicle reported the items stolen. The North Hudson department is the lead agency investigating the theft, officials said. The Hudson Police Department is also investigating the incident. Published 16:14 Aug-27-08 | TOP |
