Hudson -- Ledesma to go on trial for courthouse parking lot murder

The St. Paul man accused in the shooting death of a 19-year-old Woodbury, Minn. woman was bound over for trial on Tuesday by St. Croix County Judge Eric Lundell.

Christopher Soriano Ledesma, 29 will be arraigned on June 15 on one felony count of first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the shooting death of Kelly Lynn Dahm, whose body was found in a car Sept. 20 in Hudson.

Dahm's body was found about 10:30 p.m. in an abandoned Chevrolet Malibu in the upper parking lot at the St. Croix County Government Center, which houses the courtrooms.

Lundell heard testimony from forensic pathologist Dr. Vicktor Froloff of the Ramey County coroner's office and Hudson police officers Traci Haines and Sgt. Eric Atkinson at the preliminary hearing that ran two days. The slain girl's father, Timothy Dahm also testified and identified Ledesma as a friend of his daughter's. Public defender John Kucinski represented Ledesma.

The autopsy report said Dahm was shot three times, including the fatal shot that entered her head from the left and exited to the right.

Ledesma was arrested by Woodbury police Sept. 20 when officers investigated a complaint that he was outside his parents' home waving a gun around. Officers found a .38 caliber revolver, live rounds and a fired shell casing in his possession, the police report said.

The investigation revealed Ledesma, a convicted felon, purchased a .38 handgun at a Woodbury sporting goods store four days before the shooting.

He has been serving a five-year sentence in a Minnesota prison on a felony conviction for possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police reports said Ledesma and Dahm had a rocky relationship and she was in the process of breaking up with him when the tragic incident occurred.
