• Hudson -- YMCA Camp St. Croix celebrates 100th anniversary
• Hudson -- Health co-op extends deadline to June 19

YMCA Camp St. Croix is celebrating 100 years of serving families, children, churches, retreat groups, corporate groups, and many more on its semi-hidden 400+ acres in Hudson.

Camp St. Croix invites everyone to come and celebrate this momentous occasion on Saturday, June 13 4 p.m. for a special program and ribbon-cutting ceremony unveiling the new dining hall on camp grounds.

Today, campers arrive via bus or their parents cars, but in the early days they arrived by train, ferry boat and even a Model T's. The long history of camp is detailed at www.campstcroix.org. It was a true adventure destination and remains one today for the thousands of campers who attend resident or day camp annually.

There are additional activities throughout the weekend, as well, including arts and crafts, campfires, camping, skits and hikes. All events are free and open to the public. Registrations for any or all events can be made by calling 715-386-4380.

The deadline to submit a series of documents for inclusion in a regional health cooperative has been extended to Friday, June 19.

"The extension is based on the growing response from prospective members of the cooperative," said William Rubin, a representative of Cooperative Health Choices of Western Wisconsin. "We want to include as many lives in the initial pool for the health insurance coverage."

Prospective members of the co-op must complete and return confidential health questionnaires, a checklist/acknowledgment, and business associate contract. The documents are available at www.unitedscv.com/chchealth.htm and should be returned to Cooperative Health Choices of Western Wisconsin, 808 Carmichael Road #298, Hudson WI 54016.

Rubin said the health co-op covers 17 counties in western, west central and northwest Wisconsin. Prospective members include large and small businesses, non-profit organizations, the self-employed, business partnerships, rural utility cooperatives, trade and labor organizations, and local units of government, including towns, villages, cities, counties and school districts.

CHC was formed in late 2008 and will provide health insurance to its members on Oct 1, 2009. CHC's service territory includes Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Price, Rusk, St. Croix, Sawyer and Washburn counties.
