Motorcyclist hospitalized following North Hudson crash

By: Randy Hanson

A man was taken by ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a set of mailboxes in North Hudson.

The accident happened at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday. The cyclist was traveling north when he struck the mailboxes at 610 Sixth St. N. (Hwy. 35), just north of the Line-X truck accessories business and an auto repair shop.

North Hudson Police Chief Mark Richert said there was no indication that any other vehicles were involved in the crash. The cyclist was alone on the Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.

Richert declined to identify the cyclist pending notification of his relatives and the completion of an accident report. He said Patrol Sgt. Mark Volz is investigating the accident.

The police chief said he didn't know if the man's injuries were life-threatening. He said they were serious enough that the St. Croix Emergency Medical Services crew that responded to the accident took the cyclist to Regions' trauma center instead of the local hospital.
