Bank fraud charges filed against two NR women

HUDSON -- Felony bank fraud charges were filed last week against two New Richmond women.

Stephanie Kay Rowlinson, 56, and Amy Rebecca Rowlinson, 32, were each charged with one count of fraud against a financial institution in court records filed Nov. 24.

They were scheduled for initial appearances at 1 p.m. Jan. 7 before Judge Edward F. Vlack.

According to the criminal complaint, Amy Rowlinson allegedly deposited checks of $3,850 and $4,350 into her savings account at AnchorBank in New Richmond in late December 2008 and early January 2009 that were payable to Stephanie Rowlinson, then withdrew some $4,155 from the account shortly after the deposits. When the bank learned the checks were counterfeit it froze the account.

During an investigation by a bank security specialist, Amy Rowlinson said she was just doing a favor for her ex-mother-in-law.

Stephanie Rowlinson said she received a total of $477 from Amy as a result of the transactions, the criminal complaint said.
