Eau Claire passes no smoking ordinance By Wheeler News Service It will be illegal to smoke in most public places including taverns in Eau Claire starting in July. The city council in Eau Claire passed the ordinance Tuesday night by a vote of 7-4. Smoking will be allowed in private homes, and in home-based businesses. Eau Claire is the fifth community in Wisconsin to pass such a strict smoking ban. It joins Appleton, Madison, Shorewood, and Shorewood Hills.
