• Boyceville man dies in weekend accident; alcohol may be factor

Alcohol may have played a role in an accident that claimed the life of a young Boyceville man and injured a teenager from Colfax.

Officials with the Dunn County Sheriff's department say they were called to the scene of a one-vehicle crash on Highway 170, on the east end of Boyceville, at around 5:35 a.m.

Kristen Nielson, 25, died after the vehicle he was driving rolled over several times, according to officials with the Dunn County Sheriff's Department.

His passenger, Nicole Baumgartner, 17, was injured and taken to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say it appears that alcohol did play a role in the accident and neither Nielson nor Baumgartner were wearing seat belts.

The Dunn County Sheriff's Department is continuing its investigation into the crash. The Boyceville ambulance and fire services assisted at the scene.
