St. Croix County District 8 finally gets a representative Gregory Tellijohn, former New Richmond School Board member, has been appointed to fill the open District 8 seat. The seat has been open since no candidates could be found for the April elections. Several attempts to find potential appointees also failed. At Tuesday's County Board meeting, three potential candidates were present -- James Geurkink, Town of Stanton; Gregory Tellijohn, Town of Erin Prairie; and Mark Borgstrom, Town of Stanton. After each candidate spoke, currently seated supervisors voted by secret ballot. The rules required a majority vote. After the first ballot, Tellijohn received 13 votes, Geurkink 10, and Borgstrom 6. After a second ballot Tellijohn received 15 votes and Geurkink received 14. County Clerk Campbell administered the oath of office to Tellijohn. Published 09:26 Jun-20-08 | TOP |
