Drowning takes Glenwood City man's life A rural Glenwood City man drowned Sunday, July 20, at Glen Hills County Park south of Glenwood City. The St. Croix County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the park around 5:05 p.m. Sunday for a possible drowning at the swimming beach. Filadelfo Hernandez-Cuagquehua, 20, was swimming with a group of people when he apparently swam to a bouy marking the edge of the swimming area. He was unable to swim back to shore and showed signs of distress. Nearby boaters attempted to throw him a life preserver, but he went under the water and was not seen for quite some time, according to the Sheriff's report. He was pulled from the water by members of the Glenwood City Fire Department and Glenwood City EMS, after which CPR was initiated immediately. He was flown from the scene by LifeLink Helicopter to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7 a.m. Monday morning. This is the second drowning in St. Croix County in 2008. The incident remains under investigation. Published 14:04 Jul-21-08 | TOP |
