Man taken to hospital following accident at Boyceville ethanol plant

By RiverTown Staff

A 22-year-old unnamed man was injured in an accident at the Western Wisconsin Energy plant located between Boyceville and Wheeler.

The accident happened at around 11:20 a.m. today (Thursday) at the ethanol plant located at N10185 370th St., in the Town of Tiffany, according to a report from the Dunn County Sheriff's Department.

Officials say the man was helping unhook the rigging on an industrial crane which was on a flat-bed trailer when the accident happened.

The man was taken by the Boyceville Ambulance Service to Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie.

Authorities are not releasing the man's name until they have notified his family.

The crane is owned by Dawes Inc., of Elk Mound, and was being operated by a Dawes employee at the time of the accident.

The man is employed by Granite Falls, Minn.-based, Fagen Inc., which constructs ethanol plants.

A spokesman for Western Wisconsin Energy would only say that the accident was under investigation.

Also responding to the accident was the Boyceville Fire Department along with the Dunn County Sheriff's Department and Northern First Responders.
