Eau Claire woman airlifted following van rollover near Hammond An Eau Claire woman had to be airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul early Sunday after the van she was driving swerved to miss a deer along Interstate 94 near Hammond. According to Wisconsin State Patrol officials, Sai Xiong, 37, was driving a Ford Windstar van which was eastbound on I-94 at around 12:25 a.m. when the vehicle swerved, went into the median and then rolled. Xong was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders. A spokeswoman for Regions Hospital reported Monday morning that Xiong was in good condition. 7-year old in critical condition after being struck by pickup A 7-year-old child was hit by a pickup truck in Balsam Lake at around 4 p.m. Friday. Witnesses say Cody Ward ran out into traffic while trying to cross West Main Street (Highway 46) when he was hit. Officials with the Polk County Sheriff's Department say Ward is the son of Harlene Fitzpatrick of rural St. Croix Falls. Emergency responders from the Balsam Lake Police Department and Unity Area Ambulance treated Ward at the scene and the child was then airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He was later transferred to the Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul where Monday morning his condition was reported as critical by a hospital spokeswoman.
