• Dresser teen dies in Friday accident

One person was killed in a single-vehicle rollover on U.S. Highway 8 on Friday, Nov. 27.

Passenger Alora R. Breault, 16, Dresser, was killed when she was ejected from a vehicle driven by Eric V. Johnsen, Waupun, 17, Wis. Johnsen, operating a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer, was westbound in the area of Deer Lake in Balsam Lake Township, when he approached a vehicle stopped in traffic waiting to turn left. Johnsen swerved to avoid a collision with the stopped vehicle and lost control. His vehicle overturned in the north ditch.

Breault died at the scene. Johnsen was transported to St. Croix Medical Center for medical treatment. Another passenger, Michael Breault, 10, Dresser, was not seriously injured but was transported to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

Responding to the scene was the Balsam Lake Rescue and Fire Department, the Unity Area Ambulance, St. Croix Falls Ambulance, St. Croix Falls Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Polk County Sheriff's Department.
