Two women and toddler injured in Pierce County accident

A Saturday morning accident on HWY 35 in Pierce County injured three Minnesota residents -- including a 23-month-old child.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. when Debra Morgan, 51, Red Wing, was southbound of HWY 35 driving a 1995 Plymouth minivan when she attempted to make a left-hand turn into a driveway just south of HWY 63.

While making the turn Morgan's van was hit by a northbound Chevrolet pickup driven by Natasha Chester 23, Minnesota City. Also in the pickup was Chester's 23-month-old daughter Jolissa Nelton.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, Morgan's van flipped over and then landed right-side up, but with Morgan trapped inside.

After being extricated from the vehicle by the Ellsworth Fire Department she was airlifted by Lifelink Helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Morgan was listed in fair condition as of Monday morning.

Chester and her daughter were transported by the Red Wing Ambulance Service to Fairview Medical Center in Red Wing, Minn., where they were both treated and released.
