• UW-Stout chancellor back home after heart surgery
• Times and dates set for playoff action

University of Wisconsin-Stout Chancellor, Charles Sorensen is recuperating at home after being released from Luther Hospital in Eau Claire Wednesday after undergoing triple bypass surgery there last week.

The 65-year-old Sorensen will continue his recovery at home and it is not known when he will return to campus, according to Doug Mell, UW-Stout communications director.

"Everyone is happy with the pace of the chancellor's recovery," Mell said. "The chancellor also is overwhelmed by the cards and telephone calls he has received wishing him a speedy recovery."

Times and dates for Pierce County high schools teams involved in WIAA state, sectional or football playoff action have been set.

In football, Ellsworth will travel to Durand for a second round match-up in Division 4. Kick-off has been set for 7 p.m. This is in response to the Ellsworth volleyball team potentially making it to the sectional finals which are scheduled to be in Black River Falls. The finals time, which was originally supposed to be at 7 p.m. was moved back to 1 p.m.

Also in football, in Division 7, Elmwood will take on Plum City in second round match-up at Mondovi with the kick-off set for 1 p.m. This will be a rematch from earlier this season when the Blue Devils rallied from a 22-7 fourth quarter deficit to win 29-28 in overtime.

Ellsworth's volleyball team will take on Maple Northwestern in one sectional semifinal in Division 2 at 7 p.m. in Amery. In Division 4, it will be Plum City suqring off against No. 1 ranked Hillsboro in Cashton. If PC pulls off the upset, the sectional semifinal will be in Elroy at Royall High School with the start time at 7 p.m. Saturday.
