• Several injured in Pierce County motorcycle accidents Saturday

Three Minnesota motorcycle riders were injured Saturday afternoon in two motorcycle accidents south of Prescott.

Both accidents happened at around 12:25 p.m. in the same location on Highway 35, approximately two miles south of Prescott according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

In the first accident, Shane Shatka, 35, Champlin, was heading southbound on his motorcycle when the bike left the road on a curve and then struck the guardrail several times before finally crashing on the highway.

Moments later another southbound-motorcycle driven by Dennis Robinette, 55, St. Paul, ran into the back of a motorcycle driven by Dennis Frank, 43, Mound.

Shatka suffered ankle and hand injuries, while Robinette, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered injuries to his back and face. Both men were airlifted to Regions Medical Center via Life Link helicopter.

Late Monday morning Shatka was reported in fair condition while Robinette was in good condition, according to a Regions hospital spokesperson.

Robinette's wife, Diane Robinette, 49, was a passenger on his motorcycle and she was taken to Regions Hospital by Prescott Ambulance.

Frank was not injured in the accident.

At around 6:30 p.m. that same day the Ellsworth Ambulance was called to the scene of a dirt bike accident at N2499 550th Ave. The rider of the motorcycle had to be airlifted to Regions.

No information is available on the identity of the driver.
