Fire takes lives of three UW-Stout students By Wheeler News Service A fire near the U-W Stout campus in Menomonie killed three students Saturday morning. Authorities say the three people killed were students and all were pronounced dead at Red Cedar Medical Center. Police say smoke detectors DID go off when the fire started to spread, so they're not sure why the two women and a man were unable to make it out of the building.
