More information release in fatal accident near Beldenville An accident at around 3:35 p.m. Thursday near Beldenville has claimed the life of a 28-year-old woman. Two other individuals involved in the accident were taken to area hospitals. According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred on Highway 65, just south of Beldenville in the Town of Ellsworth. Officials say that a southbound pickup truck driven by a 28-year-old man with a 28-year-old female passenger slid on the slush-covered roadway and entered the northbound lane. The vehicle was then struck by a northbound pickup truck driven by an 82-year old man. The collision between the two pickup trucks sent one into a nearby farm field while the other came to rest on the shoulder of Highway 65, between the bridge and south junction of Pierce County J. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene by the deputy Pierce County coroner. The 28-year-old male was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul by the Ellsworth Ambulance Service. The driver of the other pickup truck was taken to the River Falls Area Hospital in River Falls. Pierce County authorities are not releasing the names of the victims until family members have been notified. The accident is under investigation by both the Pierce County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol. Names of those involved will be posted when they're made available. Highway 10 closed Thursday for five hours A section of US Highway 10 was closed for about five hours Thursday as debris fell onto the highway, causing significant damage. According to Pierce County Construction Superintendent Jim Harris, a quarry was being blasted below the old waste site and subsequently rock fell onto the highway, damaging about 150 feet of road. The closure happened between 450th and 490th St. in the town of Salem. The Highway Department closed that section about 1:30 p.m. and re-opened it about 6 p.m. Harris said the Highway Department will began paving that stretch this week. Published 10:40 Apr-11-08 | TOP |
Ellsworth couple dies in Beldenville accident, victims identified By RiverTown Staff A man and his wife from Ellsworth are both dead as the result of a broadside collision between two pickup trucks on Hwy. 65, just south of Beldenville on Thursday. Teresa Lindo, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Her husband, Scott, 28, died Friday at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The pair were southbound in a Ford Ranger truck driven by Scott when he lost control of the vehicle on the slush-covered highway, according to Pierce County authorities. The Lindo truck swerved into the northbound lane where it was struck on the passenger side by a full sized Ford pickup driven by Eugene Langer, 82, of Beldenville. The collision sent the Lindo vehicle into a nearby farm field while Langer's truck came to rest on the shoulder of Hwy. 65, between the bridge and south junction of Pierce County J. Scott was transported from the scene by Ellsworth Area Ambulance directly to Regions, where he died Friday. Langer was taken to the River Falls Area Hospital in River Falls where he remains hospitalized in stable condition, according to a hospital spokesperson. The couple is believed to have resided in an apartment on Summit Avenue in Ellsworth, but a state court web site listed Scott's last known address as N4990 750th St. in the town of Trimbelle -- a residence owned by Teresa's parents, Richard and Jean Lindo. The crash remains under investigation by both the Pierce County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol. Funeral arrangements for the couple are pending with Hill Funeral & Cremation Services in Ellsworth. Pictures of the vehicles appear at www.piercecountyherald.com. Published 14:37 Apr-11-08 | TOP |
