Two men arrested for burglary at Hiawatha National Bank

HAGER CITY--Two Minnesota men were arrested early Tuesday morning for burglary and other charges at the Hiawatha National Bank in Hager City.

Roger Bugh, 39, Fridley, Minn., and Michael K. Schumann, 42, St. Paul, were taken into custody by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department at about 1:30 a.m.

They're currently being held on $1,000 and $500 bail, respectively.

At about 1 a.m., Pierce County dispatch received an alarm call from HNB. Members from the sheriff's department arrived on scene, assisted by the Red Wing Police Department.

Upon arrival, they found Bugh and Schumann attempting to steal money from an ATM machine, located outside the bank's building.

Bugh was arrested on felony charges of burglary and possession of burglarious tools, along with entry into a locked coin box, criminal damage to property and resisting/obstructing an officer.

Schumann was also arrested on felony burglary and possession of burglarious tools, along with felony criminal damage to ATM machine and entry into locked coin box.

Previous Wisconsin court records show Bugh being found guilty of theft of movable property in St. Croix County in 2005. He was also charged with possession of burglarious tools and entry into locked coin box, but those charges were dismissed.

Court records show that Bugh has spent time behind bars in Minnesota for several felony charges, including third-degree burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and second-degree burglary, according to Minnesota court records.

Earlier this month he spent three days in jail in the Twin Cities for giving a false name to a police officer, the records indicate.

Schumann has also had several run-ins with the law in Minnesota for minor traffic offenses.

The sheriff's department said more information about this incident will be released later this week.
