• Fire damages Maiden Rock area home
• Ellsworth man airlifted after midday bike accident

A fire severely damaged a rural Maiden Rock home on Saturday evening, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

Units from the Lund, Plum City-Maiden Rock, and Ellsworth fire departments and the Maiden Rock Ambulance service responded to the blaze at W1721 70th Ave., at around 10:55 p.m.

The home is owned by Edward and Lisa Gath.

No injuries were reported.

A bicyclist was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul following a bicycle accident just outside of Ellsworth late Monday morning.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, Jason O'Neil, 32, Ellsworth, was riding his bike on 490th Avenue when he lost control on the steep hill and was thrown from the bike.

A nearby resident heard the commotion and after spotting O'Neil lying in the road called 911 at around 11:45 a.m.

The Ellsworth Ambulance service responded to the scene where O'Neil was complaining of back, shoulder and head injuries. The man also suffered injuries to his face.

O'Neil was then airlifted by a LifeLink III Helicopter to Regions where a hospital spokeswoman reported that his condition was listed as fair.
