HEADLINES:
Stroke, osteoporosis screening set in Ellsworth Residents living in the Ellsworth area can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke. Life Line Screening will be at the Ellsworth Senior Center, 312 W. Main St., on Dec. 5. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m. A stroke, also known as a "brain attack," is ranked as the third leading killer in the world and the leading cause of nursing home admissions. Stroke often occurs without warning. Painless screenings can help identify risk for stroke, vascular diseases or osteoporosis early enough for physicians to begin preventive procedures. Screenings, which are non-invasive, help identify such potential health problems as blocked arteries, irregular heart rhythm, abdominal aortic aneurysms, and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which is a strong predictor of heart disease. A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk is offered to both men and women. A complete Wellness Package with heart rhythm screening is $159. All five screenings take 60 to 90 minutes to complete. Life Line Screening, established in 1993, is the nation's leading provider of vascular screenings. Ultrasound teams of staff members bring the service to local communities. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call (877) 237-1287 or go on the Web to www.lifelinescreening.com. Preregistration is required. Published 09:12 Nov-14-08 | TOP |
