Man dead in crash, resulting fire in I-94 A 51-year-old Menomonie man died late Wednesday afternoon after his truck left I-94 near mile marker 32 overturned and caught fire. Emergency personnel were able to free him from his vehicle but he died at the scene. The man's name is was being withheld by the State Patrol mid-morning Thursday, pending notification of relatives. The Patrol said the man was traveling eastbound in his 1997 Dodge Ram at about 5:15 p.m. when it crashed in the town of Lucas and caught on fire. The driver, alone in the truck, was removed but attempts to revive him failed. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dunn County Medical Examiner. The vehicle fire and a resulting grass fire were extinguished by members of the Menomonie and Spring Valley fire departments. The Dunn County Highway Department also assisted at the scene.
