HEADLINES:
Ellsworth nurse's license pulled Wisconsin officials on Friday suspended the license of an Ellsworth nurse accused of improperly obtaining and using narcotic medications from her employer earlier this year. Jessie Rayne diverted 30 Percocet pills from her employer on or about March 24, according to Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing Secretary Celia Jackson. Rayne entered a treatment program in April and was discharged in May with a diagnosis of Opioid dependence, officials said. The Board of Nursing order said Rayne claimed to have only used two of the pills and destroyed the rest. "We can't have medical professionals, who are responsible for keeping patients healthy and safe, diverting or using controlled substances," Jackson said. The BON order allows Rayne to apply for a stay of the suspension if she can prove to the board that she is participating in a drug and alcohol treatment program, attending support group meetings, maintaining sobriety, submitting to drug and alcohol screens and has quarterly reports on her performance sent to DRL by her employer. To have the suspension removed, Rayne would have to practice without any violations of the BON order for a period of five years. Published 16:51 Oct-09-09 | TOP |
