• Pierce County man receives probation for pornography

A former Plum City man was sentenced Tuesday in Pierce County Circuit Court to three years probation for possession of child pornography.

Luke J. Hofmeister, 29, who now resides in River Falls, was charged back in April with the Class D felony. The maximum penalty for that charge was $100,000 and/or 25 years prison.

According to the criminal complaint, investigation by a Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) agent revealed a computer at Hofmeister's former residence in Plum City was being used to facilitate the possession of child pornography.

DCI agents, along with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, executed a search warrant at that address. Hofmeister admitted to agents he may have an addiction to child pornography, but denied ever having sexual intercourse with a minor. He also stated the computer located in his bedroom would possibly contain pornography, but offered a 'no comment' when asked if he downloaded or viewed pornography.
