Bay City man pleads guilty to possessing firearm

By Jason Schulte, RiverTowns staff

A 54-year-old Bay City man pled guilty Thursday to possession of firearm by a felon in Pierce County Circuit Court.

Lemuel A. Johnson, N1357 Katie Ln., also pled guilty to misdemeanor intentionally pointing firearm at person relating to an incident last August in the City of River Falls. He will be sentenced at 11 a.m. Feb. 2, 2010.

Johnson was facing these charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a couple inside their car at the Kwik Trip on S. Main Street in River Falls on Aug. 2, according to the criminal complaint.

A 911 call was placed after Johnson left Kwik Trip. He was eventually pulled over by Pierce County Sheriff's deputies on 1000th Street in a "high-risk traffic stop." During the chase, Johnson tossed the gun, which wasn't found by law enforcement until five days later.

The handgun was used to point at a 21-year-old woman, who was the mother of Johnson's granddaughter, and her 20-year-old boyfriend. The woman and Johnson's son at the time were separated.
