Two men hurt in snowmobile crashes near Ellsworth, Plum City

Two men were injured in separate snowmobile accidents within three hours Saturday and early Sunday in Pierce County, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

Troy Minder of Hager City was riding on a trail near Highway U, about a halfmile south of Plum City around 9:20 p.m., Saturday, when his machine left the trail and landed in Plum Creek.

A friend traveling with Minder pulled him from the creek and brought him to CTH U where he was treated by EMS personnel then transported to Fairview Red Wing with unknown injuries.

Just 15 minutes past midnight Saturday, rescue crews were summoned to another crash east of Ellsworth where the county trail crosses 490th Avenue east of CTH C.

Officials said Mathias Reis, age unknown, of Prescott, was negotiating a curve in the trail, fell from his sled and suffered a leg injury.

He was apparently flown from the scene by medical helicopter to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. His condition wasn't immediately available.

Both accidents remain under investigation.
