Minnesota woman injured in rollover accident

A Hastings, Minn., woman was airlifted following a one-vehicle accident at around 12:35 p.m. Thursday.

Rania Odman, 38, was heading westbound on 640th Avenue, about a tenth of a mile east of Pierce County E in the Town of Oak Grove, when her vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, left the road and rolled over.

Odman was ejected from the vehicle during the accident.

A Life Link Helicopter from Rice Lake was called to the scene and airlifted Odman to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

On Friday morning she was listed in fair condition, according to a Regions spokesperson.

UW-Stout students shout down protesters from radical Kansas church

By Wheeler News Service

University of Wisconsin-Stout students shouted down members of a Kansas church that picketed the school.

Parishioners of the Westboro Baptist Church appeared on the Menomonie campus, after three students died in a house fire last Saturday.

The protestors said the three "died for Wisconsin's and Minnesota's sins."

The victims were from both states and one was the daughter of a church pastor in St. Paul.

About 1,000 students demonstrated against the Westboro church members, carrying signs saying "God Hates No One."

The church is the same one that appeared at funerals of those serving in Iraq.

Those protests resulted in a state law banning picketers within easy eye-shot of all funerals and public visitations.

Kinnickinnic River Land Trust annual meeting Saturday

By Debbie Griffin, RiverTown Staff

The Kinnickinnic River Land Trust holds its annual meeting 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturday in the Kinnickinnic River Theater at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls' University Center.

KRLT Director Nelson French said land trust members attend the meeting and there should be room for friends of the Kinni who may be interested in coming to it. French kicks off the morning by giving a "state of KRLT" report.

Kelly Cain, Director of the St. Croix Institute for Sustainable Community Development, talks about the land trust's role in a sustainable watershed community. Vince Shay, Director of the Upper Mississippi river Program and the Nature Conservancy, discusses biodiversity conservation in the lower St. Croix watershed.

The meeting closes with KRLT's annual business: Electing board members, voting on by-law changes and recognizing volunteer and board-member service.
