Two on bond after setting off homemade bomb By Wheeler News Service Two men are free on signature bonds, for allegedly setting off a homemade bomb near Chippewa Falls. Dereck Peterson, 22, Chippewa Falls, and Shane Robertson, 22, Rice Lake, are due back in Chippewa County Circuit Court May 6. Police were alerted by a man who felt his house shake during Sunday's blast, and saw a large plume of smoke from across the Chippewa River. He later saw two men running toward a nearby business where an officer arrested them a short time later. According to the Chippewa Herald, a search warrant said the device was made from fireworks, sparklers, old cell phones, and cans of spray paint -- among other things. Police quoted the men as saying they made 30-40 bombs in the past. One of them apparently blew up a snowman last month and was placed on YouTube.
