Controversial professor to challenge Kind for 3rd District

By Wheeler News Service

Kevin Barrett the former professor who made waves when he taught his controversial 9/11 conspiracy theory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison now plans to run for Congress.

Barrett says he'll announce Monday he'll run as a Libertarian for the Third District House seat now held by U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wis.

"The Democrats were elected in 2006 to end the war," Barrett explains. "They failed. Ron Kind and the rest of them keep voting to throw our money into that five trillion dollar black hole in Iraq."

"That's why our economy is tanking and gas prices are through the roof. It's time to give the Democrats and the Republicans their walking papers. It's time to fire them all," he added.

Barrett says he'll make the announcement at 1:45 p.m. just before Kind's Monroe County listening session.

That session will be held in the county board room, 112 S. Court St. in Sparta, from 2 - 3 p.m.

Barrett says he'll also attend Kind's listening session and ask Kind some pointed questions.

Barrett still contends the Bush administration was behind the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and he calls the official explanation, "a load of hooey."

Barrett says he'll call for an investigation into the attacks and he's urging voters to throw incumbents in both major parties out-of-office.

Kind, a former prosecutor, has served western Wisconsin in the House for 12 years.

Eau Claire home builder Paul Stark is also running for Kind's seat as a Republican.
