Speeding woman crashes By Phil Pfuehler, RiverTown Staff A 32-year-old Hudson woman, allegedly with a bottle of whiskey and brandy in her SUV, led River Falls police on a high-speed chase on North Main Street that exceeded speeds of 90 mph Saturday around 2:40 a.m. She later veered off the road and overturned repeatedly before ending up in a culvert on Hwy. 65 just past the closed Harley Davidson dealership. The screaming woman had to be helped from her vehicle because she was partly trapped. She was taken first to River Falls Area Hospital. Finalists for UW-River Falls chancellor post named Only one of the five finalists for the vacant University of Wisconsin-River Falls chancellor post is from within the UW-System. The five finalists were named Tuesday by Kevin P. Reilly, UW-System president, to fill the post vacated by Don Betz. Betz announced he was stepping down in March to accept the position of president of the three-campus Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. The public is welcome to meet the five finalists during public forums Nov. 19 - Dec. 6 at the River Falls Pubic Library, at 140 Union St. Dr. William G. Colclough is the dean of the college of business administration at UW-La Crosse. His public forum will be held on Friday from 10:45 a.m. - noon. Dr. Geri Hockfield-Malandra is currently the vice chancellor for strategic management for the University of Texas System. Her public forum will be held from 10:45 a.m. - noon Nov. 25. Dr. Raymond W. Cross is the president of Morrissville State College in Morrisville, N.Y. The public can meet him Dec. 3 from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. Dr. Dean Van Galen serves as the vice president for university advancement at the University of West Florida. His public forum will be Dec. 5 from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. Dr. Ellen J. Neufeldt, is the vice president for student affairs at Salisbury (Md.) University, will be available from 10:45 a.m. - noon Dec. 6. A 19-member search and screen committee, chaired by UW-River Falls Professor James Madsen, recommended the finalists to Reilly and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents. Additional forums with the finalists will be held on campus. Information on those forums is available online at www.uwrf.edu/chancellorsearch . Reilly and the Regent committee will interview the finalists in Madison on Dec. 17. The final appointment of a new chancellor must be confirmed by the full Board of Regents.
