River Falls hosts Bluegrass and Roots Festival

The River Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau announces the lineup for the Third Annual Bluegrass and Roots Festival April 5-7 in downtown River Falls.

The three days of live bluegrass, roots, Cajun and Americana music will include headliners The Greencards on Friday night and Pert’ Near Sandstone on Saturday night. Other artists include Brian Wicklund and the Barley Jacks, The Ditch Lilies, The Boys n’ The Barrels and the High 48’s.

Banjo, guitar and fiddle workshops and jam sessions are included.

New this year is the Singer/ Songwriter Competition. Prizes will be awarded for the top three artists.

Ticket prices for the headliner performances are $25 for either Friday or Saturday or $40 for a two-day pass. Tickets may be purchased at RiverFallsBluegrass.com. Visitors who stay for the weekend in select River Falls hotels will receive one free ticket to that evening’s performance.

Saturday, April 6: 8-11 a.m., Rush River Ramblers, Southfork Café; 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., Open Jam, Riverview Hotel; 11-1:30 p.m., Flatpick Guitar Competition, sponsored by Brickhouse Music, Juniors Bar/Grill; 2-4 p.m., Antiques on Main-bring your treasure for an appraisal or just stop by to watch, Riverwalk Art and Antiques; 2-5 p.m., Jumbo Ya Ya, Bo’s N Mine; 2:30-4:30 p.m., Singer/Songwriter Competition, Junior’s Bar/Grill; 3:30-6:30 p.m., Ditch Lilies, Mainstreeters; 5-8 p.m., Platte Valley Boys, Lazy River Saloon; 9-9:45 p.m., The Everett Smithson Band, Junior’s Bar/Grill; 9-10:30 p.m., Pert Near Sandstone, Junior’s Bar/Grill; 10:30 p.m.-1 a.m., Boys n’ The Barrel, Corner Saloon.
