Spring Valley man sentenced in TV thefts

HUDSON—A Spring Valley man has been sentenced in the thefts of televisions from a Hudson trucking company.

Kerry Kevin Wittmer, 37, will serve one year in jail and five years on probation. He was also ordered to pay fines and court costs of $25,578 at a sentencing hearing Sept. 14 before St. Croix County Circuit Judge Scott Needham.

A five-year prison sentence was imposed and stayed.

The criminal complaint said on Dec. 20, 2010, Kerry Wittmer was involved in the theft of flat screen TVs while employed as a dock supervisor at Valley Cartage in Hudson. His wife Jamie L. Wittmer reportedly aided him as the driver who hauled away the merchandise.

Hudson police were called to Valley Cartage Dec. 20 when an employee reported six Samsung flat screen televisions went missing from a pallet between 11 p.m. and 2:32 a.m.

Jamie Wittmer pleaded no contest and was convicted of two counts of misdemeanor theft May 9. She also entered a deferred prosecution agreement on a felony receiving stolen property. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 80 hours community service and probation for two years.
