The Hideaway Smoke Shop on Coulee Road received 52 separate citations Monday from the Hudson Police Department for allegedly having drug paraphernalia among their inventory .
The fines total more than $12,400 and were issued to store owner Wael Sakallah. The items that generated the citations are glass pipes and “one-hitters,” according to HPD Chief Marty Jensen. Since the shop opened late last year, the police have been checking in to see if the pipes or what what they consider drug paraphernalia were for sale at the store.
Jensen said the pipes just showed up after Christmas in the store.
The HPD issued 25 similar citations last summer to Left of Center on Second Street and the case is currently being heard in St. Croix County court.
