Fire destroys shed on Hwy. 10

Fire crews from Prescott and Ellsworth spent about two hours Thursday night battling a structure fire on Hwy. 10.

Prescott crews were called around 10 p.m., to W10640 US Highway 10, or the Dennis Hauth residence as a shed was reportedly on fire.

"It was pretty engulfed by the time we got there," Prescott Fire Chief Bill Dravis said. Despite their best efforts, the building was a total loss.

No one -- people or animals -- were injured. The 20-by-30 structure, which was built in 1940, was used as a shop or housed tools, Dravis estimated.

Dravis said Friday afternoon the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. He added Prescott used two tanker trucks, while one from Ellsworth. In all, 10,000 gallons of water were used in battling the fire.
