Friday: Power still out in hundreds of Pierce Co. homes
As of mid-afternoon Friday, about 950 homes served by Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services remained without electricity. About 2,400 of the co-op’s customers lost power following the spring snowstorm that hit late Wednesday night, May 2, toppling trees, power lines and poles.

Area students, teachers receive Kohl awards
Six high school students and seven teachers from St. Croix, Pierce and Polk counties were named recipients of the 2013 Herb Kohl Foundation awards. The $1,000 awards will go to 100 teachers and 187 graduating high school students statewide. The teachers’ schools will also receive $1,000 awards.
