Area students, teachers receive Kohl awards
Six high school students and seven teachers from St. Croix, Pierce and Polk counties were named recipients of the 2013 Herb Kohl Foundation awards. The $1,000 awards will go to 100 teachers and 187 graduating high school students statewide. The teachers’ schools will also receive $1,000 awards.

Also, records reveal a 12-year-old received probation for starting a damaging fire in the Durand library last January, plus more state briefs about a new canoe trail near Nelson, polluted drinking water and UW-M expanding its PA training to Wausau.
