Ellsworth Keith House stood on the north side of Main Street in the area where Cal Butts’ barber shop is now located and down the block to the east. When this building burned in 1886, it was the biggest fire Ellsworth has ever seen. Bucket brigades were in charge of wetting down the neighboring buildings to keep them from burning too. It has been less than a year since Grace Place moved from the former St. Anne’s convent in Somerset to much larger quarters in the a former nursing home in New Richmond.
