Grillmaster Holter to host national TV show

Hudson resident Damon Holter, Grillmaster and owner of Croix Valley Foods, has been selected as host of a new television series, Fired Up Food, to begin airing in May of 2015 on Outside Television Network.

Fired Up Food is a new series dedicated to improving the experience of cooking outdoors over a flame. The show will showcase recipes, products and tips for memorable, easy-to-prepare, family-friendly meals cooked over a grill, smoker, campfire or camp stove.

“We are excited to have Damon on board as host of Fired Up Food,” said Steve Pennaz, president of EverFire Group. “He not only brings personality and expertise to this series on Outside Network, his recipes are creative, approachable and simply full of amazing flavor.”

The series will feature Holter’s original recipes for appetizers, meals and desserts cooked in various outdoor settings across the country. In addition to the recipes, Holter will provide additional tips and tricks for grilling and smoking dishes on the series’ website,

Grillmaster Damon Holter is an ambitious food entrepreneur who owns an award-winning food manufacturing business (Croix Valley Foods in River Falls — and competition barbecue team. He started his business in Hudson in 2009, but moved to River Falls in 2012 to be in a larger location. His passion for creative cooking with the most basic of heat sources has provided him the opportunity to fuel the competitive nature of his business, taking him to the world’s largest culinary stages, securing top finishes at the World Food Championships and a featured position on an episode of the Travel Channel’s “American Grilled.”

As a regular competitor in Kansas City Barbeque Society tournaments, Holter was named as one of the country’s top rib cookers in 2014 and invited to compete against a select handful of worthy opponents at the Great Midwest Ribfest. Living in Hudson with his wife and children, Damon is also an avid outdoorsman, a world-record-holding fisherman, musician, photographer and award-winning wildlife artist.

Holter's firm wins national honor

The National Barbecue Association (NBBQA) announced that local product Croix Valley Sweet Heat BBQ Dry Rub was among the top winners in this year’s Awards of Excellence competition, earning first place in the All Purpose Rub category.

The award was announced at the organization’s annual conference held March 4-7 in Nashville, Tenn. The annual competition recognizes the very best barbecue products in a number of industry categories, and the winners were selected from among 450 total submissions.

Croix Valley Foods is located in River Falls and owned by Hudson resident Damon Holter.

“BBQ enthusiasts from all over the country come here to measure their products against their peers,” said Roy Slicker, association president. “It’s a competitive field with top-notch products, and a NBBQA Award of Excellence medal is quickly becoming one of the most coveted awards in the foodservice industry.”
