Fleeing suspect arrested in Pierce County

Brian L. Tschida

The man sought by Pierce County deputies after eluding capture last month has been taken into custody.

Pierce County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Jason Matthys said deputies arrested 32-year-old Brian Tschida on Friday, Sept. 15. He said investigators got word the Prescott-area man was at a rural Hager City home.

He was taken into custody at 10:17 a.m. without incident, Matthys said. Tschida was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of methamphetamine possession, knowingly fleeing an officer and a probation hold.

Authorities had been searching for Tschida since an Aug. 31 incident when he allegedly led deputies on a Highway 10 pursuit before coming to a 490th Street farm driveway. He allegedly got out and ran from officers.

The sheriff's office sought the public's help in finding Tschida after the incident.

Matthys said formal charges in the case would likely be issued this week.
