Allen Wojcik

A Pierce County Sheriff's Office deputy was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of child sexual assault.

According to the Pierce County Jail log, Allen J. Wojcik, 31, was booked at 5:32 p.m. Sept. 26 on suspicion of second-degree sexual assault of a child. He was transferred to the St. Croix County jail, where he was also listed on a Wednesday jail log.

Pierce County Sheriff Nancy Hove said Wojcik has been placed on administrative leave. Chief Deputy Jason Matthys confirmed it is paid leave and that it was effective this week. The case is being investigated by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office, she said.

No formal charges had been filed as of Thursday morning.

Wojcik began serving as a DARE officer in 2016. He stepped down from the assignment in May 2017, according to the sheriff's office.

A previous version of the story incorrectly listed Wojcik as the current DARE officer. Wojcik is not a sergeant in the department, as was incorrectly listed in the earlier version.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
