Several fire departments were on the scene of a large brush fire in Goodhue County that took several hours to extinguish. 

The Lake City Fire Department responded to a brush fire in Florence Township at 5:44 p.m. April 15. While the fire department was en route to the fire, deputies at the scene advised that the large brush pile was smoldering, according to the Lake City Fire Department. The Lake City Fire Department worked to keep the fire contained while requesting tankers from the Red Wing Fire Department and Goodhue Fire and Rescue due to the size and how long it had been burning. Lake City Ambulance and Wabasha Fire Department were on standby.

Firefighters were on scene for three hours. A total of 17 firefighters responded and no injuries were reported, according to the Lake City Fire Department.
