Big top, big elephants, big fun

"That elephant has big foots!" a young blonde-haired boy exclaimed as he watched a circus worker groom an elephant early Tuesday morning. Several hundred people including children, grandparents, moms and dads turned out in the St. Croix Industrial Park to watch the Carson and Barnes 5-Ring Circus set up in Hudson.

Often, there is little opportunity between high school and middle age for a guy who loves to play baseball to find a game. Usually the outlet is the town team and for members of the Hudson Rebels, love for the game is about the only incentive to keep playing.

A tribute to Catherine Johnson

In the long and colorful history of Hudson, it isn't difficult to find a skirmish or scandal every couple of years and details of them all have appeared in the Star-Observer. But for the past 50 years, there has also been lots of good news, fun news, news about neighbors and friends and news that gives us a glimpse into human nature.
