Hurler Moore looks forward to Legion all-star contest
Ben Moore is enjoying success at his chosen sport this year. The 5-foot-11-inch, 160-pound, senior, right-hander was the only member of the Hudson High School baseball squad to be named on the first team All-Big Rivers Conference team. He followed that with a selection to the American Legion all-star North Team in July.
Youth to hunt waterfowl Sept. 18
Wisconsin will again offer a special one-day Youth Waterfowl Hunt on Sept. 18 to give young hunters a chance to experience waterfowl hunting without the crowding found during the regular season.

YMCA offers fall programs
The St. Croix Valley YMCA is offering a homeschool gym and swim program for years 5-16 Sept. 21-Oct. 28 from 1-3 p.m. The program, now in its third year, is designed specifically for homeschool families. The focus of the program is to provide youth with a physical fitness component as they are being homeschooled. The goal is to develop fundamental skills in both gym and swim activity, as well as to introduce youth to new games and activities with respect to sport and fitness. The youth are broken into two age-specific groups and participate in gym and swim activities within their respective groups.
Prairie project to start with advisory group
The initial planning and approval process for the proposed Western Prairie Habitat Restoration Area has been completed. DNR staff have spent the past two years completing a detailed feasibility study and exhaustive public input process.
