Club performs at Wisconsin State Fair
Members of the Mann Valley 4H Club were chosen to perform at the Wisconsin State Fair in Milwaukee Aug. 14. A musical entitled "The Elephant Child" was performed; it was choreographed and coached by Jennifer McCoy and Peggi Ficken. Burch joins United Way staff
The United Way of St. Croix County has announced the addition of Connie Burch to its staff. United Way of St. Croix County is the result of the recent merger of the New Richmond-based Greater St. Croix County United Way and the Hudson Area United Way. The merger has led to changes that the board of directors believe will lead to campaign growth so that United Way funded agencies can continue to enhance the quality of life in St. Croix County.

Water fight, dance are part of Saturday's Fire-Rescue Ball
The annual Hudson Fire-Rescue Ball will take place on Saturday, Aug. 28, with events beginning at 1 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 222 Walnut Street, on the corner of Walnut and Third streets. The Fire and EMS departments invite everybody for a day and night of fun.
Bid farewell to exchange student
After spending the summer here, YMCA staff and students bid farewell to Maribell Cuadros-Gomez Friday. She left for her home in Columbia. Cuadros-Gomez worked as a counselor at the St. Croix Valley YMCA during the summer and worked with about 85 children. Many were on hand to bid her farewell. She stayed with the Glenda and Paul Moen family during her stay in Hudson.
