Cutting of 10baseT cable/ribbon at WITC WITC Opens the door

Computer networking cable served as ribbon for opening day ceremonies Tuesday at Hudson's new WITC Learning Center on O'Keefe Road. "Our target population is citizens, already employed, who want to upgrade their skills - the majority of which are computer based," said David Hildebrand, WITC District President. Hildebrand and campus administrator Tim Schreiner welcomed a host of elected representatives, business leaders and WITC board members from as far away as Washburn and Hayward for the afternoon event. Bill Rubin, St. Croix EDC director said he's "been told technical colleges are the factories of the future," aiding business start-up, retention and recruitment. He noted that WITC-Hudson had "already earned its stripes" by aiding in the recruitment of a new engineering firm in the St. Croix Business Park. Among the ribbon cutters were, from left, Schreiner, Chamber Director Mary Claire Olson, Mayor Jack Breault, Superintendent of Hudson School Ron Bernth and State Rep. Joe Plouff (D-Menomonie, 29th District). For information on the 62 courses offered in Hudson, call 377-0007.
